New Apple Gadgets on the Horizon
Apple fans, rejoice! The tech giant is rumored to be preparing a slew of new gadgets for imminent launch, just in time for the Christmas shopping season. According to industry insider Paolo Pescatore, we can expect a range of revamped and new products, including Macs and iPads, to hit the market soon.
Pescatore, an analyst at PP Foresight, believes that Apple will focus on rolling out new Mac devices powered by its latest M4 chip, including the Mini, Pros, and iMac. The bulk of the news is likely to come from this category, with rumors of a revamped iPad mini also on the cards.
A Long-Overdue iPad Mini Refresh
The iPad Mini is long overdue a refresh, with the last update dating back to September 2021. A new model would be a big win for fans of the downsized tablet, and Pescatore believes it could be announced alongside the new Mac devices.
Apple’s AI-Powered Future
At the core of Apple’s new products will be its push into AI, thanks to Apple Intelligence. This includes an enhanced version of Siri that lets you chat more naturally, as well as writing tools that rewrite or summarize text. You’ll also get new notification summaries, suggested replies in Messages, and a Clean Up feature for removing objects or people from photos.
A Free Upgrade for Millions of iPhones
But it’s not just new gadgets that Apple fans have to look forward to. The company is also expected to roll out the new iOS 18.1 upgrade for millions of iPhones, bringing a host of new features and improvements. The update will include Apple Intelligence features, such as an enhanced Siri and writing tools, as well as new notification summaries and suggested replies in Messages.
The iOS 18.1 upgrade will be available for a range of devices, including the iPhone SE, iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16 models. However, Apple Intelligence features will only be supported on select devices, including the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
The Christmas Gadget Wars
With Christmas just around the corner, gadget companies are scrambling to scoop up those pounds or dollars you’ve set aside for the holiday season. September, October, and November are always packed with new products, all vying for your Christmas cash. But which tech items are going to be the big hitters for 2024?
The new iPhone line-up will be an obvious pick, especially the entry-level iPhone 16 model. Apple’s new AirPods 4, which start at £129/$129, will also be in high demand. Sony will probably flog a fair few PS5 Pro consoles too, despite the hefty price tag of £699/$699.
And then there’s Meta, Mark Zuckerberg’s tech company, which is getting in on the holiday season action with its new “budget” virtual reality headset, the Meta Quest 3S. Priced at £289/$299, it’s far cheaper than the PS5 Pro and will let you explore virtual metaverse worlds, visit distant lands, and play games in a CGI space.
